Statistics
Organizer: Gustav Ammerer
Trainer: Stefanie Tauber, Institute of Molecular Biology, Mainz, Germany
Background:
This workshop was introduced upon students’ demand as they felt they lack profound knowledge on statistics. It replaces the originally planned workshop “Classical and Modern Genetic Approaches to Biological Problems”.
Program
The Workshop started with a lecture on exploratory data analysis, followed by hands-on introduction to the “R” software. Students were furthermore introduced to available statistical tests and spent the whole first afternoon with applying the newly acquired knowledge on their own datasets under supervision of their trainer. The second day was dedicated to lectures and hands-on sessions on linear regression and Anova analyses and the workshop was completed on day 3 with the analysis of ChIP-Seq data using the open-source software “Bioconductor”.
