Cytoskeletal and membrane dynamics in cell division

Our laboratory aims to understand the complex interplay between membranes and cytoskeletal structures that mediates chromosome segregation and cytokinesis in human cells. By gaining insight into the underlying molecular mechanisms, we aim to elucidate general principles of dynamic cell organization.

Our interdisciplinary team of biologists and computer scientists develops technology for automated live-cell microscopy and computer vision to investigate mitosis at a systems level. We combine various fluorescence and electron microscopy techniques into correlative workflows to bridge resolution gaps in the study of transient and small-scale events. These tools and a broad range of biophysical and chemical perturbation approaches enable our laboratory to dissect regulatory networks and mechanisms of cell division.
