Training

Each student is fully integrated in his/her respective laboratory and receives specific training in the lab. In addition, all graduate students at the University of Vienna are obliged to obtain additional qualifications (to the extent of 30 ECTS points; see table and details below).

After admittance to the program, the students set up a PhD committee consisting of the PhD supervisor and at least 2 additional faculty members. Students have to present the background and outline of their projects to the entire faculty for approval and set up a PhD committee consisting of the PhD supervisor and at least two additional PIs. They report to their committee at least once per year and may ask for ad hoc meetings at any time in case additional advice is needed. Students present their progress to all participants of the program during the regular progress report seminars and annual retreats, providing them with an opportunity to receive feedback on a regular basis.

Students of the program have to attend to the outlined seminars, lectures and workshops.
